About Me

The desire to work as a therapist was ignited in an eleventh-grade psychology course. I discovered that my passion was and is to see people thrive and transform their lives for the better. Since then, all of my academic pursuits have been aimed in that direction. I have a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina, and a Master’s Degree in Counseling from Dallas Theological Seminary in Dallas, Texas. Lastly, I earned a specialist’s degree in Counselor Education from Old Dominion University in Norfolk, VA. I have been in the counseling field since 2008 working in both private practice and community mental health. I am licensed in the state of Virginia as a professional counselor.

Training & Experience

I have background and experience in the areas of anxiety, depression, PTSD, complex trauma, and eating disorders.  I am a certified professional anxiety treatment provider. I'm also finalizing a trauma certificate from the International Society for Trauma and Dissociation.  Additionally, I have completed professional trainings through Connect EMDR, The International Society for Trauma and Dissociation, and the International Society for Eating Disorder Professionals. I have trained in and worked in Dialectical Behavior Therapy as both an individual and group therapist.

In my spare time, I enjoy exploring and hiking with my family and my two dogs Oreo and Gracie. Nature and spending time outside are gifts to our nervous system that I enjoy immensely. I also enjoy reading, exercising, and having really good coffee.
